1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the HackTricks Tools platform ("Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Platform.

2. Authorization and Permitted Use

2.1 Authorization Requirement

You must have explicit written authorization to test any systems, domains, repositories, or assets using our tools. By using the Platform, you represent and warrant that:

• You own the target asset, or
• You have received explicit written permission from the asset owner to conduct security testing, or
• You are authorized by your employer or client to perform testing on their behalf

2.2 Prohibited Activities

You may NOT use the Platform to:

• Test systems or assets without proper authorization
• Conduct unauthorized penetration testing or security assessments
• Access systems or data without permission
• Violate any applicable laws, regulations, or third-party rights
• Cause harm, disruption, or damage to any systems or services
• Engage in any illegal or malicious activities

2.3 Verification of Authorization

We reserve the right to request proof of authorization at any time. Failure to provide satisfactory proof may result in immediate suspension or termination of access to the Platform.

3. Platform Limitations

3.1 Usage Limits

The Platform imposes the following limits to ensure fair use and prevent abuse:

• DNS Audits: Maximum 50 domains per request
• GitHub Leaks Scanner: Maximum 20 repositories per organization/user scan, 8-minute timeout per execution

3.2 Scope

The tools are designed for security testing and assessment purposes only. They are provided to help identify potential security issues in systems you are authorized to test.

4. User Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for:

• Ensuring you have proper authorization before using any tool
• Complying with all applicable laws and regulations
• The results and consequences of using the Platform
• Any damage or harm caused by your use or misuse of the Platform
• Maintaining the confidentiality of any findings

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform and all tools are provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:

• Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
• Accuracy, completeness, or reliability of results
• Uninterrupted or error-free operation
• Detection of all vulnerabilities or security issues

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages
• We shall not be liable for any loss of data, profits, revenue, or business opportunities
• You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims arising from your use or misuse of the Platform

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless HackTricks and its operators from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to:

• Your use or misuse of the Platform
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any laws or regulations
• Any unauthorized testing or security assessment activities
• Any claims by third parties regarding unauthorized access or damage

8. Data and Privacy

8.1 Data Processing

When you use the Platform, we may process:

• Target information you provide (domains, repository names, etc.)
• Scan results and findings
• Request metadata (timestamps, origin, etc.)

8.2 Data Retention

Scan results are processed in real-time and not permanently stored on our servers unless otherwise indicated. Temporary data is automatically deleted after processing.

9. Intellectual Property

All content, tools, features, and functionality of the Platform are and shall remain the exclusive property of HackTricks and its licensors except otherwise indicated. You may not:

• Copy, modify, or create derivative works
• Reverse engineer or decompile any part of the Platform
• Attempt to extract source code or underlying algorithms
• Use the Platform to create competing services

10. Service Availability

We strive to provide reliable service but do not guarantee:

• Uninterrupted availability of the Platform
• That the Platform will be error-free or secure
• That defects will be corrected

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Platform at any time without notice.

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Platform immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including:

• Breach of these Terms
• Suspected unauthorized or illegal use
• Failure to provide proof of authorization upon request
• Violation of applicable laws or regulations

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable international laws. Any disputes arising from these Terms or use of the Platform shall be resolved through good faith negotiation.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and HackTricks Tools regarding the use of the Platform and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
